Dig Deeper ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Dig Deeper iOS app and website at digdeeperapp.com.

By using Dig Deeper, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you sign in, we collect your email address and display name via Google Firebase Authentication. You may optionally upload a profile photo.

Study Activity. We store your Bible reading activity, highlights, study notes, journal entries, group memberships, reading plan progress, XP points, streaks, and earned badges in Google Firestore.

Push Notification Tokens. If you enable notifications, we store your device's FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) token to send you reminders and updates.

Usage Data. Firebase automatically collects basic usage and crash data to help us improve the app. This includes device type, OS version, and app version.

AI Interactions. When you use AI-powered features (AI Study, Ask a Question, AI Debrief, Greek/Hebrew Explorer), the relevant passage text or note content is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. We do not store the raw content of your AI conversations beyond what you choose to save to your journal.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the Dig Deeper app and its features
To sync your Bible highlights, notes, and progress across sessions
To generate personalized AI study content and responses
To send push notifications (only if you opt in)
To track streaks, XP, and badges within the app
To respond to your support requests

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

Dig Deeper uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, FCM) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Anthropic (Claude AI API) — Your passage text and notes are processed by Anthropic to generate study content. Anthropic's privacy policy applies: anthropic.com/privacy
Apple (In-App Purchases, TestFlight, App Store) — Subscription purchases are processed directly by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. apple.com/legal/privacy

4. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@digdeeperapp.com, and we will permanently delete your data within 30 days.

5. Children's Privacy

Dig Deeper is intended for users aged 17 and older, consistent with the app's App Store age rating. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including Firebase Security Rules, to protect your data. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@digdeeperapp.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
